Oversite Voice is the voice entry tool on a daily inspection. This article covers what needs to be true before you can open it, how to open it from the inspection editor, and how to close it.
Before you start
A few things need to be true before the sparkle button appears:
Your company needs Oversite Voice turned on. It is enabled per company. If you do not see the button on any inspection, contact your Oversite administrator or our support team.
You need to be able to edit the inspection. If your role, the inspection's status, a project lock, or an invoice already prevents you from editing the inspection by hand, Oversite Voice is unavailable on it too.
You need a connection. Oversite Voice does not work offline. When you are offline the launcher is visible but disabled and says it needs a connection. Manual entry still works offline.
You need to allow microphone access the first time your browser asks. Typed entry works without it.
Each account also has a weekly usage budget that resets every Monday. See Check your weekly Oversite Voice usage.
How to open Oversite Voice
Go to the Project Group that contains your project.
Click the Project name to open it.
Open Daily Inspections and click the inspection you want to work on. It opens as a read-only report.
Click Edit inspection.
Find the purple sparkle button in the step navigation, next to the wizard's step buttons. Its tooltip reads AI Quick Entry.
Click the sparkle button.
Oversite Voice opens over the inspection. It is available on every step of the wizard: Basics, Personnel, Equipment, Items, Attachments, and Review.
From the Daily Inspections list you can also click the yellow pencil icon on a row to go straight into editing, skipping the read-only view. A padlock icon in place of the pencil means the inspection is locked and cannot be edited.
What you see when it opens
You see the report preview with a chat panel next to it. The panel's shape depends on your screen: a bottom sheet on a phone, a panel over the report on a tablet, and a side rail on a wide screen. On the Review step the chat opens alongside the report you are already looking at.
A greeting explains the three ways in: hold the microphone, tap a field in the report, or tap the camera.
How to close Oversite Voice
Click the Close AI Quick Entry button, or press Escape.
If any changes are still waiting for your confirmation, you are asked to confirm that you want to close, because leaving discards them.
If you saved changes during the session, a short receipt appears telling you how many were added, updated, or removed.
Troubleshooting
I do not see the sparkle button. Confirm Oversite Voice is enabled for your company by asking your Oversite administrator. Then check that you can edit the inspection by hand. If the inspection is locked, already invoiced, or past the point your role can edit, the button is hidden. The button appears in the editor, so make sure you clicked Edit inspection rather than staying on the read-only view.
The launcher is greyed out and says it needs a connection. You are offline. The launcher enables itself again when the connection returns. In the meantime, tap any field to enter and edit the inspection manually.
